Mercy Aigbe and Tonto Dikeh are both victims of domestic violence and have taken domestic violence awareness to heart. Actresses Tonto Dikeh , Mercy Aigbe and Queen Wuraola , the wife of the Ooni of Ife , are leading a campaign against domestic violence. The trio in conjunction with the one in three Africa campaign are walking the streets of Lagos today, June 30, 2017, to show their displeasure at the high rate of domestic violence cases . Recall that Mercy Aigbe and Tonto Dikeh are both victims of domestic violence and have taken the DV awareness to heart. The group kicked off their walk at 10 am under the Falomo Bridge by Awolowo Road, Lagos. This comes after Aigbe took to Instagram writing, " Battery and Assault is a CRIME! # saynodomesticviolence # saynotoassault

  Why the term slay queen is derogatory?              I do not know what the word slay queen means and one cannot support what you do not understand. The words slay queen is not in the dictionary. A lot of people may use the term without understanding what it means. I wouldn’t blush if someone addresses me as a slay queen that is not what I want to hear. Calling me that objectifies me so, I do not want to be addressed as such.        On beauty queens being referred to as prostitutes It makes me sad. But I think that is a stereotype beauty queens have had to deal with because most beauty pageants focus more on the beauty part. But with Miss Nigeria, it’s different. The beauty part is just 20% while the rest is about how intelligent you are.      Life after Miss Nigeria Education is important to me and as such, I will be doing my masters immediately after my reign is over. Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped the Registrar of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi - Uku , Mr. Collins Onyenwenu , along Ugiliamai / Onitcha - Ukwani Road, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the state. ____ It was learned that on Saturday evening, he was intercepted by gunmen. President of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union ( UISU ), Mr Aderemi Ojo , has said the university, which was shut recently, will not begin examinations until the identity cards the students paid for are given them. ___ He said: “The power we rely on is the power of democracy. Oyo State government on Friday announced the indefinite closure of the Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo, following violent protest by students over their welfare. __ The state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Adeniyi Olowofela , announced the closure in a statement issued in Ibadan, the state capital. __ The statement directed students to vacate the school premises immediately, while law enforcement agents have been enjoined to secure lives and government property in the college. __ According to the Commissioner, the college would remain closed until normalcy returns.

44 migrants from Nigeria and Ghana have died in the Sahara Desert after their truck broke down in arid northern Niger. Red Cross said the migrants, most of whom have not been identified, died this week. ___ According to Reuters, six survivors walked to a remote village where they said that 44 people, mostly from Ghana and Nigeria and including three babies and two other children, died of thirst, said Lawal Taher , department head for the Red Cross in the Bilma region.
